Blizzard announces Diablo III

After about seven years, Blizzard has announced the sequel to the runaway success Diablo II. Not much is known as of now, but you can learn more by visiting the website. The story continues twenty years on from the previous games, and seems like Biablo is up to his old tricks again. Other than that…

Clive Barker’s Jericho: First Impression

Well, I finally got Jericho. And seeing as how I haven’t posted here in a while, I figured I’d give you my first impressions.

To be honest, I’m a bit disappointed. The storyline’s amazing, and really pulls you in (well done Mr. Barker). However, the graphics and gameplay leave a bit to be desired. It’s wonderfully dark, and the creatures are exquisitely gory, but everything’s just a bit too…bland. It could have done with a bit more colour, and a little more light. gameplay wise it’s a bit simple, a very basic run and gun shooter, although the teams’ special powers do make it just that bit more interesting. Jumping from team mate to team mate really is fun, and I’ve found Cole (the reality hacker) to be my personal favourite (nothing beats slowing down time).

I’ll let you know more as time goes by, it could just take a while.

Evil Genius

I just got back into Evil Genius. Can’t believe I ever stopped playing this. It’s a really good game and…well. If you’ve ever played one of those old dungeon building games, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

You start off with a mountain which you dig into in order to build your base. Once that’s done, you have to commit “Acts of Infamy” across the world to earn infamy anf money, allowing you to advance further, all the while defending your base from good guys. Soldiers are particularly annoying, right after the bond-esque Super Agents.

Your ultimate goal is to build a doomsday device and take over the world. It’s a bit repetitive, but I really enjoy it, especially making complicated trap mechanisms to fool unsuspecting agents. Usually they end up dead, so I usually have a freezer that’s roughly the size of all the rest of my base with about 100 racks to mount the bodies on (so my minions don;t get all rebelly).

Anyway, it’s a good game, and should be quite cheap, as it;s been out a while. So take a look for it and get it. I really like it.

Tom Clancy’s Endwar

Well, there’s a new game from the Tom Clancy group. This one breaks away from the others in that it’s a strategy game. Here’s a quick trailer.

The story is thus: The US and the European Federation have set up a “shield” designed to prevent Nuclear Missile launches. It works, and global Nuclear Warfare is averted forever. Unfortunately, Russia’s not too happy, especially with the US militarising space. Then, when Oil supplies are revealed to have been overstated, the price hugely increases. Russia makes Billions and uses it to expand its military. Obviously, the US and Europe are not too happy, and due to the uselessness of Strategic Nuclear strikes, the battles can now be fought large scale, on the ground, juts like in the other World Wars. World War 3 has begun.

Clive Barker’s Jericho

This isn’t a review, as the game isn’t out yet. It’s just a small preview of the game. One quick note.

Clive. Barker. Is. Twisted.

For those of you who don’t know, Clive Barker is the creator of the Hellraiser and Candyman movies. He;s also the author of numerous horror novels. He’s made two forays into gaming so far as well. His first was the critically acclaimed Clive Barker’s Undying which, while it recieved huge critical acclaim, didn;t sell so good, due to not many people knowing about it. His second try, Demonik was cancelled.

Now, with Jericho Barker may actually do very well.
